I am an attorney. I passed the bar exam 27 years ago after graduating from Duke University Law School. Somewhere in there, before or after, I survived by driving a taxi and selling cars. I also washed dishes, bussed and waited tables, cooked, sold real estate, worked as a recruiter, tutored, wrote and edited resumes, worked as a copywriter, taught elementary school, taught at a community college, got married a couple of times, divorced a couple of times, had the world’s best son, learned that I had a few superpowers, drank a lot of red wine, and decided to become a writer. Those things did not happen in that order.
